ANZAC Memorial brings the story of local hero home to Kurri
14 May 2024
In 2024, the Anzac theme is calling on schools across the country to discover the stories of veterans in our local community. It is the aim of this year’s theme to deepen our understanding of Australia's wartime history.
Kurri Kurri HS has been fortunate this year to honour, in particular, a serviceman from Kurri Kurri who fought in WWI and lived just a stones throw from our school. Corporal Joseph Elliott's story and medals were presented to the school by family historian and researcher, as a part of a memorial put together by Christine Barrett. You can find the memorial hanging in the foyer of the school or follow the link below to read the story of a local war hero.
