At Kurri Kurri High School we have taken the initiative to create the roles of Girls and Boys Advisors to assist in better supporting our students. At times in school, conflict can arise and our advisors are here to work with our students and their families to mediate and resolve issues in a smooth and efficient manner.
The role of Advisor and Mediation Co-ordinator encompasses:
- Investigating incidents that occur in the classroom or in the playground (conflict report template)
- Initiating conflict resolution procedures
- Conducting mediation (as needed)
- Implementing mentoring support
- Creating a record of incidents on Sentral
- Following disciplinary procedures (as needed)
- Making referrals to Student Wellbeing Team via Sentral (as needed)
- Making contact with parents/carers as necessary
- Initiating mediation procedures
- Formal mediation and agreement template.
