Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

At Kurri Kurri High School we encourage students to bring their own device to assist with their classroom learning and ready them for the future workplace.

If you are looking to purchase a device for your student outside of our BYOD Portals above, we have listed some important information about technical specifications below for your reference:

Operating System

  • Windows 11 Home or Education
  • Our school is generally a Windows/Microsoft environment and while Apple and MacBook devices can be used, some functionality may differ to Windows.

RAM - Memory

  • Minimum recommended RAM is 8GB. If your student is in senior years or likely to be using image or video editing programs, 16GB may be more suitable.

Storage

  • Minimum storage space of 128GB is recommended, however 256GB is likely more suitable if possible. While students are instructed to save files in the cloud, a smaller storage drive can fill up quickly and slow the device down.

CPU - Processor

  • Intel - Devices with an Intel i3 CPU or higher (i5, i7, etc) are recommended. Similar to RAM however, a minimum of an i5 or equivalent is likely more suitable for senior students or those undertaking more intensive computer programs like image or video editing.
  • AMD - These CPUs are a little harder to 'rank' for a recommendation. Generally, the higher the numbers the better the processor. e.g. a Ryzen 3 CPU is less capable than a Ryzen 5 CPU. This is further specified by the numbers following, e.g. 7800, 9600, etc. For our purposes, a Ryzen 3 is generally suitable, unless students are undertaking those more intensive programs for editing.
